Holy shit, the App Store is LIVE!
Posted by: JT in Announcement, Apple, Geek, Mac Apps, News, Technology, iPhoneBy running Apple Software Update you should see iTunes version 7.7 now available for download. Even though the App Store doesn’t seem to have a direct link on the iTunes storefront. A simple search for Super Monkey Ball will let you get to the App Store tab.

With this single move you can download and purchase a shit tonne of goddamn applications. Free apps include (finally) AIM, Facebook App, MySpace Mobile App, eBay App, IGN Game reviews, NetNewsWire, Evernote, and all sorts of little games and productivity applications.
Pay software includes, Bejeweled, Super Monkey Ball, OmniFocus, Band, and christ there’s too much to name. Seriously, tomorrow is going to kick all forms of ass when the 2.0 software is avaiable.

Or you could just download the 2.0 iPhone update yourself, right now.
Of couse, I can’t guarantee that that update will work properly, and it is known that updating your iPhone or iPod touch with 2.0 software will wipe the phone and attempt to restore from a backup created just before the wipe. The backup checks what is available and authorized in your iTunes library for the restore so make sure (if you do this) to update using your main iTunes library.
This program is an example of why the App store and iPhone combo is going to be awesome.

Is there a non-iTunes link to the app? Web page or sumsing?

I hate to be the first to comment on my own post, but HOLY SHIT. The advance 2.0 software update worked and all the apps load!!! This update has expanded the flexibility and functionality of my cellphone 10 fold.
The evernote client is crazy. Take a photo of something you would like to remember like a business card, street sign, menu, or other document and send that in the evernote client. It’s received by your online notebook, OCR’d, geo-tagged, and is synchronized and text-searchable from the desktop clients or via the web. BAM
Super Monkey Ball runs fast and crazy. I can’t believe the same phone I’ve been using for about a year is running 3d games. Sure it’s pretty simple game, but it runs fast and doesn’t look like shit for sure. The program “BAND” is amazing too, they added a drum pad feature that lets you play multiple drums at the same time. Everything’s really responsive.
Some of the apps that are available are very creative, like a pedometer that uses the sensors in the iPhone to track steps and charts your progress. Instrument tuners for tuning your guitar using the built-in microphone. There’s a lot of location aware programs that either geo-tag content or relate information spatially for added relativism.
AIM ran perfectly. Login’s are a snap, and I was immedately notified that I was logged in two locations. and HOLY SHIT!!! Bejeweled 2 is flawless! Just like the xbox 360 version (minus leader boards). I can’t wait to show my boss the MLB app. The scores are updated live and it has instant replays available right after the plays. Works just like the keynote
I am insanely excited to see what developers come up with in the next few months.

Goddamn! I just tried the Remote App (which is the iTunes link I put into the original post that you guys might not be able to get to) and it’s fucking sick!
I’m remote controlling iTunes on my laptop from my goddamn phone. I can see all my playlists and collections from the iPhone screen and queue shit up with almost zero lag.
You run the remote app on the phone, then choose to add a Library. It gives you a 4 digit code to enter into itunes. iTunes lists the phone as a device in the source list. Click the iPhone icon, enter the 4 digit code and you are rocking and rolling, balls out!
It’s nucking futs over here. I’m bouncing around the office giving demos!

Can the remote app work across the interweb? Can I access my iTunes library on my PC at home using my phone when I’m at work or out and about?
