I thought that I’d share a little video I made today. I grabbed a frame every two minutes to make a nice 12 hour time lapse. Snowy to sunny in no time. Cheers!

    Great job!!! Awesome!!!

BTW, I had to download the vid and play it locally. The pop-up window and player alone on the page are beyond fucked.

Can you be a little more fucking specific? I know the thumbnail was fucked up, but I’d prefer to have a screenshot visible than just a link. What happens when the pop-up window option is selected?

Pretty cool stuff man. I downloaded the file and ran it back in quicktime. I did notice that it seemed to freeze for several seconds on 1 frame then switch to motion, freeze again, then back to motion. This resulted in very “jerky” transitions as opposed to the smooth flow you normally get with time lapse. Not sure if this was intentional or not.

Okay well I ran it in the pop-up window and it ran a little smoother but still froze and skipped 3 or 4 times. Maybe try re-encoding it with slightly lower settings?

Dude, it’s a 2MB m4v file for iPhones/Touch. Is it downloading all the way when you play it back? It is playing in Quicktime when viewing through the pop-up window?

Ok, after previewing on a PC with Internet Explorer and the Quicktime plug-in, it seems that the video stops playing back when the video has been queued fully. You have it hit play again to start the playback, and rewind completely and play to view the entire video without the hiccup.

It ran perfectly fine in Firefox, I hit the pop up link. Nice vid beardo, the snow melt and shadow twists are awesome.

Thanks! I only wish there was a better view from my window. I think one of these weekends I’m going to setup my laptop in the front room for a cleaner shot (since I need my laptop during the week). It would be cool to focus on something outside, but I’d have to baby sit the thing since I have nosy ass neighbors.

Oddly enough, in the video there is a frame were you see my car leaving for the day. I just happened that I was driving by at one of those 2 minute intervals. Couldn’t have planned that, that’s for sure. You can also see my nosy ass neighbor walking from house to house, bothering people. lol

We should concentrate on being nicer to each other.

    pot and kettle time.

Turning over a new leaf, Socrates?

  13. #13JT JT says:

Well either way, I’m all for that. Civility is something I definitely need to work on sometimes. I’m forced to be so much of the day, I tend to explode when I don’t have to be.

    assholes.

  15. #15magicjohnstone magicjohnstone says:

    fuck you.

Turning over a new leave? Nah, it’s the same ole, same ole for me. For example, I have never said “fuck you” or anything like that to any one of you. Never. I guess it’s just being more respectful of one another in the language we use on this website, and I would suppose in the chats, but I’m not really in the chats like yall at work.

I guess I’m usually pretty mindful of my manners…usually. Unless, I see another shoddy Stephen King based movie!

BTW, after updating to the new quicktime, the player/movie worked better.

lol. thats pretty slick. did you cap using all jpegs then parsed them together?

easier than that I’m afraid. I setup a DV cam in my window (connected to my G5 with firewire) then used this program I got in a Mac bundle called iStopMotion from Boinx Software. I think I have just the express version but they sell a pro version with all these crazy ass features for like 500 bucks. Just turn on, set the time lapse duration, hit record. Easy.

I actually made a nice little stop motion video that I sent to let everyone know that I added a client to desksite. It’s great for stop motion because after you shoot a frame it overlays transparent copy of the previous frame for reference.

Updated Link – damn case sensitivity…
