I know you guys are somewhat interested in writing scripts, making short movies, etc. … or at least you were in the past (dancing gorilla, anyone?) … so I thought I’d let you know about this local film festival that a friend of mine put together last year and will be running again this summer. Check it out…

The beauty of Dancing Gorilla was that there was no script to burden me down.

a local film festival is an interesting concept, to be sure. However a quick scan of last year’s winners shows the both the Best script and Best writing awards went to some asshole that wrote a spec script for Nip/Tuck.
Maybe try to find something original, guys, instead of giving the award to a douche bag that used existing characters and story to write something.
Shit, Shannon and I could throw together something for Rescue Me, or…gasp…Star Trek.
If chall recall, it was a similar situation back in the day that sparked the creation of The Cycle…

Shit, it sounds like you’re a shoe-in. Why dont you guys write a rescue-me script and submit it. That would be cool. It might attract some noteriety or something.
Use what you got, as it were

I would guess that, due to the fact that last year was the first year for it, entries were limited. Being a graduate of the PUC radio/tv dept myself, I would also guess that those scripts were created as a result of a mandatory project for a scriptwriting class taught there. (I took it myself and wrote a script for Buffy.)

I believe that there was a script for Gorillas in the Snow. It was “stand here and talk on a cell phone.” and ” a gorilla steals your ride.”
